Hi Mates, so my inspiration June is in full swing and I cannot tell how happy I am with this. I am digging out all screenshots / old inspirations and turning them to nail art. I am feeling more powerful as an artist who can enslave any piece of art/inspiration to emerge on my nails. Yeah, I am being melodramatic again, but that’s who I am.
I have done a ‘Ripped/Torn Denim Nails’ today that had been on my list for not months but years. I last saw them on ‘Lets Nail Moscow’ account and got reminded of this. She has executed it seamlessly, mine is a sincere attempt.
I have always loved drawing inspiration from fabrics, attires and clothing. Denim nails have been on my ‘To Do List’ for very long time and I am so glad I am checking it off today.
I was really confused in the beginning on how to achieve this look, there was no video either. And there was a brief moment when I felt its falling apart. But then eventually, some tweaking and I was able to get something that looked close to torn denims.
I applied ColorClub Look Don’t Tusk as base and then topped it with two coats of Models Own ‘Corn Flower Gleam’. Now the reason of having an off white underneath is that you want to see the white fabric peaking out of the torn denim. This is the most natural way to do that according to me. Using a fan brush I gently brushed with Sally Hansen Pacific Blue. Using Q tips /Ear buds which were dipped in acetone, I tried removing polish from places in a natural layer to create a torn denim look. I used gold studs from Bornpretty Store here and you could get 10% off with couon code HQBQ10.
Removing polishes from places correctly is a key to this look I think. Although I am not sure if I did that correctly! lol. On top of the ripped denim I added gold rhinestone to depict buttons. Again, I am not sure if they added to the look or further pulled it down. Well, after careful consideration I think they added to the look, what do you say?
