Hi Sugars, I finally did a peacock nail art which was on my to-do list for so long. I just love the colors on peacock feathers. They are so royal and rich. I have been always fascinated by peacock feather and their mesmerizing beauty since childhood. And today I am flaunting them on my nails.
It was not easy so I will not misguide you by saying – Easy Nail Art. I had to really think a lot about the base color and other combinations. It should have the royal blue, turquoise, emerald green and gold for the feathers but which colors should be used for the base and which colors for designing was the question. I had to make sure the design showed up on the base which is difficult when most of the colors are dark.
Now, I don’t have a duo/multi chrome or shade shifting polish which would have been ideal for the base. So after lot of thinking I picked up 3 colors for the base and decided to give a similar efferct by sponging. The colors had to be distinct to be noticed yet blend subtly. They needed to be naturally shimmery in finish not cream or matte. I picked up an emerald green polish from Miss Claire, Turquoise from Glam Polish and Purple from Avon Matte finish – Violet. I think the pick was bang on, although it was after hours of gazing cluelessly at my stash.
I taped 1/4th of my nails and then did a gradient base with colors chosen above. With Maybelline Colorshow Bold gold I did stamping using Moyou London Tropical Plate 06 .
After stamping I removed the tape, outlined the design and added a blue rhinestone. I think this taping and rhinestone effort was worth because it added bling and delicacy to my nails. For the peacock using same Tropical 06 plate I made a decal and painted it.
The nail art did not turn out to be out of the world as opposed to the herculean effort that I had put in for it :(. I was really tired doing this nail art, sucking out life from my already half dead physical and mental state after office. But to my comfort some of friends really liked it and praised it. This is kind of payoff for the effort put in.
Do you think the effort was worth it? Does it reflect in the beauty of the nail art? Does the peacock feather mesmerize you too?
