Elizabeth Arden Visible Difference Skin Balancing Lotion SPF 15 Review

Hi Ladies, as mentioned in my previous post, I got this as a sample when I bought the expensive Elizabeth Arden pressed powder (read review here).I also got a sample of Elizabeth Arden Visible Difference Skin Balancing Night Cream (to be reviewed soon) .The SA was handing over these samples on a minimum purchase of Rs 1000 but to a few customers only (don’t know the short-listing criteria) which included me and my sister. Now since I am gifted with a tom boyish sister she handed over her samples to me :P.The SA had said she would call up after 10 days to seek review.  She was very sure that the product will literally make a visible difference.

Usually I am very excited to try out new products (provided my skin loves it and I don’t get an acne attack). But at the time I got this, I was not looking for a moisturizer or a day cream. I use Vichy normaderm (anti imperfection) and I am quite happy with it. Nonetheless, Vichy had also fallen in my lap as an experiment, so I thought of accepting this product with an open heart. 🙂

My Rendezvous with Elizabeth Arden Visible Difference Skin Balancing Lotion SPF 15

I did not pay much attention to the product till the day my Vichy normaderm refused to come out on my palm, even after pumping hard. My heart sank when my Vichy took its last breath :(. I did not have another one stocked. This was the time when the Elizabeth Arden skin balancing lotion emerged as a hero to guard my skin (Yes, it is a dramatic narration from the drama queen :P).

Packaging: Mine was looking super cute in form of a small sample (like the one you would buy for a Barbie Doll). It comes in a cylindrical small bottle with a pump dispense. The nozzle of the pump is small to avoid any extra expensive cream flowing out. The packaging kind of gives a feeling that you are ‘privileged to use an exclusive product’.

Usage Experience: The consistency of the lotion is little flowy and runny. Maybe after using Vichy for long I was expecting something more cream like .I know the product says ‘lotion’ and so behaved like one, but I wasn’t used to this consistency. It is an off white color liquid with a very mild smell. When I took it between my fingers it seemed very light. Thankfully, it is very light on face also. It is like applying some enriched and thickened form of water. It is non greasy and doesn’t give your face an unwanted shine. Although I feel the shine on face was a little more than Vichy, which is not good for me. But it doesn’t give oily feeling to the skin. It provides a very natural hydration to the skin and this feeling remains for the day long. It is very light and mild as one would feel by consistency and application but provides amazing hydration (even in harsh weather conditions). My skin did not break out with this. It also has SPF 15 packed in it which is a thumbs up.

This is just a 5ml pack which I thought would get over in 5-7 days( in which I would be no position to write a review and meet you guys L ) but I have been using it for more than a month now. How? My sample got over in like 15-18 days, after that I started using my sister’s sample :D. This one would continue for another week I guess. A little goes a long way .Just press the pump a little and a medium sized drop should be more than sufficient to provide un-compromised coverage.

All said and done, I did not find any visible difference in my skin. The product is very good if you are not expecting it to create a magic. As per the SA and what I read on claims, one should be able to figure out the difference within a week. I didn’t find any.

Before and After application image below :

Pros:

  • Packaging give the feeling of the product being ‘exclusive’
  • The small nozzle of the pump ensures just the right amount of lotion flowing out (vey necessary for an expensive cream)
  • No artificial fragrance
  • Very light on skin
  • Hydrates the skin to last throughout the day
  • Skin looks and feels nourished after application
  • Non greasy
  • Oil free
  • Shine free
  • Gets quickly absorbed in skin
  • Did not irritate my skin
  • Has SPF 15
  • A little goes a long way (which is necessary for a lotion at this price 😛 )
  • Non Comendogenic
  • Dermatologist tested

Cons:

  • Expensive for the quantity
  • Did not create any ‘Visible difference’ even after over a month’s application
  • The shine it gives to the skin is a bit more than I expected (at least after the immediate application)

Will I re-purchase again? No. It did not provide anything extra than my Vichy.

Would I recommend it to others? Yes, may be. If you have yet found a day cream which you can swear by, this little thing packed with SPF 15 is worth a try.

Rating: 3/5 (-2 because the ‘Visible Difference’ lotion should create a difference)
